Vintage Designer Jackets....Manhattan Vintage Show Preview, Fall 2011

October is a busy month for us at the shop, as the weather gets cooler our customers come in search of standout outerwear pieces, cozy knits, and flannels galore. There's also the small matter of Halloween, but more on that next week...It's also happens to be the month for the busiest Manhattan Vintage Show of the year. So this Friday and Saturday, October 21st & 22nd we'll be set up at our regular spot booth #67 at the Metropolitan Pavilion alongside the finest vintage clothiers in the land with our choicest finds. As usual we'll be bringing an intriguing and eclectic mix of early treasures, and some killer vintage boutique and designer duds spanning the 20th Century. Vintage trends for Fall/Winter 2011-12....Fur.

Fur is definitely one of the hottest trends for Fall/Winter 2011-2012, and has been heavily used in designers collections over the past few years. In no way do we condone the use of fur in fashion today, but if you must buy into the trend, we encourage you to go vintage! There are tons of amazing vintage fur garments out there in the world, so recycle and give them a new lease on life.

Vintage Trends for Fall...Varsity/Letterman Jackets & Sweaters

Like it or not Summer is all but a memory! Goodbye linen, seersucker, cotton & chiffon, we'll see you again in the spring....But fear not, a new season also means new clothes, yay!...So say hello to your old friends cashmere, leather & tweed! It also means a big change at the shop, and after some late-night re-stocking and merchandising we're just about ready for Fall. Stay tuned over the coming weeks as we'll be sharing with you some of the great vintage Fall/Winter finds we've collected over the past year....

We blogged about Varsity jackets & Letterman cardigans a couple of years back, but the American prep look is more popular than ever for Fall/Winter 2011 into Spring 2012, so we are re-visiting the subject for the first of our Fall trend posts. Take a look through any fashion magazines right now, or around shops as diverse as Bergdorf Goodman, Topshop & Target, and you'll see their racks are brimming with retro American sportswear themed clothing. Of course nothing beats owning an authentic Vintage varsity jacket or Letterman sweater....

Shop Re-fit at Another Man's Treasure....

This is something we've been wanting to do for a long time.....

...and thanks to the amazing team at Spoke Visuals, our shop fixture designs (and dreams) have been realized! They built us these fantastic Maple wood units off-site at their workshop in Brooklyn, then installed them in about 5 hours, meaning we only had to be closed for one day!!!

After a few hours of moving things around before and during the install, and many more re-organizing and merchandising after they had left, we had our new-look shop looking sharp and ready for business the next day! The new shop design has given us more display and rack space, not to mention tons more floor space...

We haven't been blogging much over the past few weeks, but we've been working hard trying to get our online showroom/high-end store up and running...and we're excited to announce that we are finally ready to launch it!
